Queen of the Stone Age is an American rock band from Palm Desert, California. The band was formed in 1997 by Josh Homme and Jesse Hughes. The groups sound has been described as hard rock, blues rock, garage rock, and psychedelic rock. The band released their debut album in 1999 with a line-up consisting of Homme on vocals and guitar, Hughes on drums, Dave Grohl on vocals and drums, Joey Castillo on drums and John McBain on guitar. They released three more studio albums before disbanding in 2006 due to internal conflict but reunited in 2010 to release their fourth album Era Vulgaris which was followed by the fifth album Like Clockwork in 2013.
